DistributionNOW is one of the largest distributors to the energy and industrial sectors. With more than 5,000 employees and greater than 300 locations worldwide, the company stocks and sells a comprehensive offering of products for upstream, midstream and downstream operations, as well as for industrial market segments. 

The Houston-based company offers more than 300,000 SKUs around the globe, including pipe, valves and valve automation, fittings, instrumentation, mill and industrial supplies, tools, safety supplies, electrical products, artificial lift, drilling and production equipment, fabricated equipment and industrial paints and coatings. 

Independent retail garden centers throughout the Northeast have looked to Arett Sales Corp. to provide the products their customers need for more than 60 years. “The company was founded in 1953 with the unique concept of distributing exclusively to the retail garden center,” Arett Sales says. “Today, we are managed by a team of professionals dedicated to serving the needs of retailers in the lawn, garden and home center industries.”

The Pennsauken, N.J.-headquartered company operates warehouses in Bristol, Conn., and Troy, Ohio, totaling 600,000 square feet. Arett makes daily deliveries and offers service to customers in 19 states including Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company also serves Washington, D.C. 

There are many people who do not like their jobs, but Locke Supply Co.’s vice president of company operations, John Orman III, is not one of those people. “I’m spoiled,” he says. “I love the people I work with. Almost every day I get up and want to go to work.”

Based in Oklahoma City, Locke Supply distributes plumbing, electrical and HVAC supplies, including tubs, faucets, water heaters, pipes, valves and vents. Don Locke founded the company with his wife, Wanda, in 1955 as Locke Plumbing Supply, a wholesale outlet.

Field Fastener Supply has a lot of tools in its toolbox. The industrial distributor focuses on providing cost-reduction solutions to customers through its data-driven vendor managed inventory programs and fastener engineering capabilities. “That’s what we do,” President Jim Derry says.

Field Fastener Supply creates and develops robust inventory management systems (VMI) that ensure customers have the proper inventory. “We help our customers have the right amount of material at the right time by using data based off of our customer’s consumption patterns,” Derry explains. A VMI program ensures customers won’t have shortages. Field also looks for ways to provide cost reductions to customers using its proactive engineering and technical approach to fastening. 

Since starting outside of Chicago in 1957, Anixter has been striving to redefine distribution based on their customers’ needs. The original premise of value-added wire and cable distribution back in 1957 was to “buy by the mile and sell by the foot,” just what the customer needed, an industry first. That innovative mentality has continued to where Anixter is now the leading global distributor of communications infrastructure, specialty wire and cable, security and OEM supply fastener products.
